With this group graduating, 100% of the employees at Unilever’s Pietermaritzburg factory have now received their NQF 3 qualification. The ceremony also included the graduation of 22 unemployed learners who received their training along with the employees from Unilever’s Durban and Pietermaritzburg based factories. This training provided by Unilever, is part of the company’s commitment to grow and develop talent.
“This is what makes me proud to work for a company like Unilever,” said Patrick Sithole, Vice President Supply Chain, Unilever South Africa. He thanked the Chemical Industries Education and Training Authority (CHIETA) and FoodBev Sector Education training authority (SETA) for their commitment and support in making this possible. Patrick went on to encourage the graduates, and said that now that they had graduated, he wanted to see them put their learning to use and improve output, productivity and commitment.
Earlier in May, 78 employees from the Boksburg, Foods plant also qualified with an NQF 3 in Oils and Fats Based Processing. The plant is now 90% complete in its journey to ensuring that all operators are up skilled with a nationally recognised qualification.
