Consumers vote Unilever their favourite brands at Product of the Year Awards

Consumers have voted and Unilever has come out tops, taking no less than seven of the awards at the Product of the Year ceremony held in Johannesburg on 28 January. The awards are based on the results of an assessment undertaken by a substantial number of consumers in South Africa.

PRODUCT OF THE YEAR is the world’s largest organisation dedicated to recognising and rewarding product innovation.

Unilever’s winning products are:

  • Axe – the number one fragrance deodorant in the South African market. As of December 2009 it has an 8% value share of the total deos market.

  • Shield – The Shield range offers a combination of trusted Shield protection with fine fragrances that are inspired by the latest trends in perfumery.

  • Vaseline for Men – Started out with one lotion and later a cream. In 2009 it received a facelift, which saw two new lotion variants and an extra cream.

  • Pond’s Flawless Radiance - In 2009 we saw a reinvention of one of South Africa’s most trusted face care brands.

  • Handy Andy - Won the Power Cleaner category for the new additions to its 500ml range: the Lemon and Lavender variants.

  • Domestos – In 2009 announced the launch of Domestos Red Power which offers 24-Hour Protection.

  • Sunlight Sparkling Grapefruit - Won in the category for Dishwashing liquid after just one year on the market.
